New Movie Releases - Friday August 24

This looks to be a strong weekend for movie releases...at least for August. Ranging from Mr. Bean, a nanny and a couple of guys beating the shit out of each, it should be pretty good. Here are the new releases for this weekend...

War - starring Jet Li and Jason Statham. Statham, playing a FBI agent, is in search for the assassin (Li) who happened to kill his partner. In the meantime, he gets in tangled in the Chinese underworld. I really like Statham, particularly in The Transporter and in The Italian Job which there is talk that there is going to be a sequel called The Brazilian Job. Not kidding!! Hopefully someday he will become a big time star.

Mr. Bean's Holiday - Mr. Bean is back and badder then ever. I like Mr. Bean and have since I first discovered him about 10 years ago. The first movie wasn't too bad and was the UKs highest grossing move ever and this sequel has already done very well overseas.

The Nanny Diaries - starring Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans from Fantastic Four fame and Laura Linney. About a nanny who is hired to take care of a snobby socialites son. Of course there is a chance at love as well. Might be cute.

Illegal Tender - haven't heard a thing about this. Haven't even seen a trailer for it, but I guess it is about a young man seeking revenge for his father's death.

Resurrecting the Champ - starring Josh Hartnett and Samuel L. Jackson. This movie is about a reporter who believes he finds a former boxing champ who is living as a bum on the streets and is actually believed to be dead. Could be a real inspiring offering. Can't go wrong many times with Sam the Man.

Dedication - starring Billy Cudrup and Mandy Moore. When a children's book author and a beautiful and free spirited illustrator work together, they find romance despite their personality differences.

September Dawn - starring Jon Voight, a group of settlers travelling west run into a sect of Mormons. 120 people are killed, which is covered up by the religious leaders.

The Hottest State - directed by Ethan Hawke based on one of his first novels, about a man going across the country to find a woman.

The 11th hour - out in limited release, this documentary narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio and discussing the environment and how we can fix it. Sounds a lot like another documentary that came out recently that was narrated by a former US Vice-President.

So that's it for this weekend. Go check them out!!!
Take care everyone...
