A sequel is never a guarantee. Depending on how quickly the movie makers plan to get the sequel out, somewhat dictates what type of quality you are going to get. In this case, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, is probably equal if not a little better then the original. I was not jumping out of my seat to see this movie so I did not see it until it came out on DVD. What I saw was a movie about team work, loss, love and redemption all rolled into one.

Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)
For those that have not seen Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, then I won't put a whole bunch of spoilers in here, but in a nutshell, the Silver Surfer is an explorer for the big bad guy, Galacticus, who needs to strip worlds of their energy to stay alive. Galacticus is a big cosmic cloud that floats around the galaxy. Even though the Surfer works for the bad guy, he isn't necessarily a bad guy himself since he is scouting these worlds for Galacticus to save his own planet and the one he loves from destruction.
The four main characters, Mr. Fantastic (Reed), Invisible Girl (Sue), The Thing (Ben) and Human Torch (Johnny) are now introduced in this movie and continue on with life following the events of the first movie. They all do a commendable job, but it is Chris Evans, who plays Johnny that brings some life to the movie. His humour, which he does a very good job at, and his cockiness give this movie a spark of life. Good job on his part. The other three are good, but still pretty stiff. Well OK, Michael Chiklis is pretty good as Ben Grimm as well. Oh right we also get to see Victor von Doom return.
So anyway, I had to buy Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer for my son, so I am sure I will have to watch it over and over again for the next little while. Oh well, it is watchable, but I do hope that if they do a third installment, that they put a little more effort into making it better then the first two.
Enjoy the movie!!
