Sometimes I think we forget how easily our actions, whether good or bad, can effect the people we love and cherish. It is difficult to think how these actions may change the series of life events of those on the other side of the world. This may sound far fetched, but it is possible.
What we see in Babel, is just this but on a much larger and politically charged scale. This movie was a beautiful but heart wrenching depiction of culture and politics and how easily they become interwoven. We see the lives of a huge range of people, who's stories are told in four intermingled stories that essentially are strung together through a series of unfortunate events.
The acting in this movie was wonderful, headlined by Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett. Pitt is at his vulnerable best and Blanchet portrayed the angry and sad wife to a tee. The real scene stealer was Rinko Kikuchi who played Chieko. Chieko is a deaf Japanese girl who recently lost her mother to suicide and is trying in every way to find the reasoning and attention she so desperately desires. Definitely deserving of her Oscar nomination.
Overall this movie was great. It may not be for those who like the fast paced type movie though, but still a great to movie to watch. Check it out!!
Take care and enjoy the movies!!!
